Ooedo Onsen Monogatari and tattoos
Ooedo Onsen Monogatari runs onsen hotels and day spas in hot spring towns all over Japan. Tattoos are not allowed as they are, but you can use the large baths if a tattoo is completely hidden by the hotel’s cover stickers.
- Use the cover stickers sold at the hotel (a paid item, e.g. 6.5 × 10.5 cm for 220 yen at some hotels).
- The tattoo must be completely covered. Many hotels allow up to 2 stickers per design.
- The same rule applies to overnight guests and day visitors.
- Sticker size and limits differ by hotel, so check each hotel’s page.
Buy the stickers at the front desk before going to the bath.
